CA.VED JAIN, New Delhi, has been a man of prudence, veracity and intelligence since birth. Academically brilliant, he is a rank holder in both CA Inter and CA Final. A Triple Bachelors Degree Holder, he completed his Bachelor of Science from Punjab University in 1973. A true follower of Continuous Professional Education, after completing his chartered Accountancy in 1976, for the love of the subject he did his Bachelors of Arts in Economics in 1979.He also completed his Bachelors of Law in 1980. 


His expertise thus is not limited to just one but all the four subjects i.e science, economics, law and accountancy- a rare combination.







A Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants Of India (ICAI) for more than three decades, He was elected to the Central Council of ICAI for the first time in 2004 and thereafter in 2007. On 5th February, 2007 he was elected by the council as its Vice- President and was further elevated to the post of the President on 5th February, 2008. During his tenure as president The ICAI has earned various credentials, which embark a new era of professional development.


His integrity, zeal and commitment towards the profession and society, has been recognized and appreciated by the Government of India. The Satyam episode happened during his tenure of President, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He was instrumental in handling the biggest ever fraud in the corporate sector and working out the plan for revival of the Satyam and the two associate companies closely with the Government of India. This helped taking over the Board of the effected companies and ensuring continuance of the businesses and jobs of thousands of employees.


Immediately after his tenure as President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, he was assigned the job of reviving/ managing the two associate companies of Satyam and was appointed Government Nominee Director on the board of MAYTAS Infra Limited now renamed as IL&FS Engineering & Construction Limited and MAYTAS Properties Limited. He successfully managed these companies and revived the same. In this process he saved thousands of crores of the Banks which have lent money, execution of infrastructure projects of national importance and also ensured homes for more than 900 families which have invested their lifelong savings with these companies.


He is regularly involved in the consultation process of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs and member of various expert committees/panel constituted by the Government of India for fiscal and commercial legislations.


On corporate forum he has been Founder Board Member of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, set up by Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. He is Chairman, National Council on Direct Taxes of ASSOCHAM. He is a life member of Indian Council of Arbitration. He is independent director on the Board of DLF Limited, PTC India Limited, PTC Financial Services Limited and IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Ltd.  He was on the Board of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) during 2008-2011, a global organization for the accountancy profession comprising of 167 members and associates in 127 countries.


He has more than three decades of experience on advising corporates on finance and taxation matters.  Mr. Jain specializes in Direct Taxes and has handled complicated tax matters, appeals and tax planning of big corporates.


A prolific writer, having command in Hindi, English, French, Urdu and Punjabi, has authored many books on Direct Taxes and regularly contributes articles in various journals, newspapers and frequently participates in various television programs.
