Jagat Shah studied for MBA (International trade, with a Gold Medal), graduating in Commerce from Delhi University & is a certified cluster development practitioner, trained & certified by UNIDO / ILO at Turin, Italy. He has additionally graduated in Diamond technology from Indian Diamond Institute (IDI), Surat. He is a certified management consultant (CMC) recognized by ICMCI, USA.

 

In last 28 years of his career, he has worked on international market & investment strategies with 22 countries –  India, Canada, America, Europe, Africa, Latin America, South East Asia & China companies & Governments.  He founded a charitable trust which is an ISO certified economic development agency, which has worked with cluster development approach on poverty elimination, alternate livelihood, employment creation, E-Governance and Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) competitiveness with several governments & private sector in many countries like India, USA, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, UAE, Oman, Iran, Ras Al Khaimah, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia besides all the states in India. He also guides countries & organisations in mobilizing investors into the industrial park, SEZ’s & technology parks. He contributes to these efforts from his head office at Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

 

Since last 20 years, he runs Global Network : www.globalnetworkindia.com , an international trade advisory firm. His company consults Corporates & SME’s on international market strategy & approach. His company has led 114 trade & investment delegations from India to abroad for pre-fixed Business to business (B2B) meets. Company has also hosted 34 delegations from abroad to India, including those of overseas premiers’ for trade & investment match making with government, public & private sector companies.  

 

Under this company, he is the Foreign representative of Government of Manitoba, Canada in India for trade & investment since last seven years.

 

Since last 18 years he runs Global Network Institute : www.gninstitute.com , an international trade training school, having conducted 135 batches of international market access course attended by 4000+ “business person students” & conducted 450+ international trade seminars in India & abroad. He has trained several Government officers in India & abroad on approaches to competitiveness & business development.

 

Since last 12 years, his ISO certified, not-for-profit, professionally run,  economic development agency Cluster Pulse: www.clusterpulse.org has worked in 102 industry clusters in 20 countries – both, developed & developing ones besides India. Cluster Pulse has implemented cluster development projects for USAID, GIZ ( Germany ), World Bank, IFC, UNIDO, DFID ( UK ) , The European Union ( EU ), The Commonwealth Secretariat, International labour organization ( ILO ), Microsoft, Government of Canada, Government of Oman, Government Of Brunei, Government of Senegal several ministries of Government of India & State Governments of India.

 

His projects cover challenging & innovative assignments like that of green buildings, Information technology adoption by SME’s, creating a network of Business development service provides ( BDS ) & mentoring them across the country, renewable energy & energy efficiency.  He was the team leader of Government of India team to design the National Information, communication technology – ICT policy for SME’s.

 

He economic development projects has worked in diverse sectors across verticals like agriculture, food processing, floor coverings, aviation, education, engineering, machine tools, auto components, handicrafts, textiles, pharmaceuticals, medical disposables, consumer goods, gems & jewelry, tourism, biotech & transport.    

 

The most challenging project of his lifetime has been in Afghanistan where he worked with 20,000 carpet weavers, 6,000 dry fruit farmers, 800 fruits farmers

( Pomegranates & grapes ) & 2,000 handicraft women artisans to not only take them out of poverty but to make them into exporters with warehouses & offices in USA, Germany & India. He strongly believes that if change can be brought about in Afghanistan, then it can be brought about in any country in the world.  

 

He is a Mentor on Road & is going around the country by self driving in a car on road to 35 cities in 22 states, covering 9800 kms to meet Starts ups, SME’s, Corporates, education institutions, community based organisations & rural enterprises to propagate Make In India, Skill India, Clean India, Smart India, Digital India, Stand up India & Start up India concepts & to understand their problems & submit a report to Prime Ministers’ office.

He is now doing a Mentor On Road project in USA, driving 15400 kms to 24 states and 30 cities meeting American start ups & SME’s to connect them to Indian businesses. Also meeting Women empowerment institutions 7 Indian diaspora in USA to connect them to Indian smart village projects.  

 

He is presently working on 3 start ups of his own :
